chapter 7+8 summarizier
In chapter 7 which named Holy Cadavers deals with confirming the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin by the crucifixion experiments. An experiment, “pounding the nails into the hands and feet of an elfin”, conducted by a surgeon Barbet concluded that there are two strains running from the same sources but different ways, and at different angels. The first comes obliquely upwards and inwards whereas the second one flows slender and meandering. Explaining why blood followed two different parts, he pointed out that Jesus lifted up him and then drooped by his hands which were hanging. Barbet proceeded to experiment a lone arm crucifixion instead of the whole body. He expressed that the nail which forced through the space between two metacarpal heads took its own direction. Theory that addressed by Barbed seemed contrary to Zungie, a medical examiner. Barbet presented ideas that the wound on the back of the hand on the Shroud of Turin came out on the pinkie side while it appears on the thumb side. Zungie discovered that the crucifixion did not influence our breathing rhythms, nor did the blood flow different parts, or rather, wound would have been smeared.
Basically, this chapter exposed a new function of cadavers, not only for common practice such as the effects of bullets on human (chapter 6), but also for proof of holy perceptions.
Chapter 8 named How to Know If You’re Dead is about determination of whether or not it is the truly death, live burial, and the search for the soul . We took a look at a beating cadaver which was defined as a declared brain dead, but tissues and organs were still alive. After the next four hour, kidneys, heart, and livers would give up. Despite the brain death beating cadavers looked rejuvenated inside. We could feel the heat beat of the liver flowing to the aorta, saw the organ plumping and being slippery. , Searching for the location of the soul was a controversy between different beliefs. Egyptians, Pythagonies, and Astute considered heart was the seat for the soul, while Babylonian believed in the liver, Mesopotamian thought of both the heart and liver (intellectual for the heart, emotion for liver). Overall, it is concluded that the soul diffused throughout the body, which does not have a resting place.

Chapter 6 (Quizzer)
1. Why do people use large caliber bullets?
This is because they are efficient. With large caliber bullets, cattle dropped to the ground after three or four shots while small ones even failed after ten shots.
2. What is the difference between human and animals when they are being shot?
Falling to the ground depends on the state of human’s mind whereas animals do not know what means to be shot.
3. Why do people fall to the ground after being shot?
It is because impulses from massive pains are transmitted to the region of the brain named reticular activating system. Then, RAS sent those signals to the leg muscles and made them feel deteriorate. This led people easy to fall down.
4. What is the purpose of cadavers joining the army?
Cadavers seem useful since they provide understandings of “firing into dead bodies for the purpose of teaching the effects of gunshots in war.” In addition, body armor vests were designed to thwart munitions at people’s chest needs stiffs for experiments.

Stiff summary chapter 1+2
Chapter 1+2
The first chapter names “a head is terrible thing to waste.” It addresses a practice on human heads by plastic surgeons. Mary Roach, the author of the book, went to a Southern university medical centre to observe a facial anatomy and a face-lift refresher course. The basic step to deal with human‘s heads is to be placed them in roasting pans, putting in the center of a lavender plastic cloth. Theresa is a woman whose job is to set up the seminar. Besides her, Yvonne is in charge of sawing off the head. With a facial anatomy, surgeons “elevate the skin in a subcutaneous plane from lateral to medial.” As doing it, surgeons do not feel sick because they think heads as rubber Halloween masks, but they do not relish it. Nonetheless, they value the chance to practice on human heads. Taking over the face-lift refresher course is a woman named Marilena Marignani. She divides skin layers into four sections, separating, repositioning, and then suturing them. The second chapter is about crimes of anatomy. The author stops by an anatomy lab to observe students working with stiffs and experiencing their feelings. They feel bad, but they produce attached to dead people. They name their cadavers and grow feelings of missing them when the course finishes. However, students are cautious in term of gratitude and respect because sometimes students make fun of their cadavers. The author also explains the enlargement of crime. It is due to the expansion of private medical schools in eighteenth and nineteenth century, while the number of cadavers does not boost. This results in lacking cadavers which processes to the growth of criminals. Burke and Hare are examples who sell corpses to generate their own income. They kill a guest by both pressing a pillow to the face and using the body weight laying down on the guest’s body. It is estimated that they do it fifteen times. Besides killing people, other mean applied to earn a living is digging up graves of the dead people. Overall, the demand of anatomy for cadavers causes the increase in crime.

Death and Dying
I have not thought much about death since I am 19 years old. At the age of people who are dealing with stress from college, death is far away from the sky. I experienced death from one of my neighbor. I was shocked since he is a female peer, living next door. I did not think that he would complete his life so soon, at the age of 17. He had a motorcycle accident when he was in a motorcycle competition with a group of friends. This competition was illegal since he and some of his friends are under age and also it was concealed from his parents. He passed away in the early morning around 5 am, right after the accidents befell on him.At that time, his parents was sleeping, who did not think that their son was in hospital, having an opportunity to see him before he left. When I knew this story, I became speechless. I would not see him anymore. He was young and so inspirational. He left the life before his parents. However, I hope he may rest in peace and continue a new life in a new location. We are always looking forward to him.

Music Playlist ( part 2/2)
My classmate did really well at making references about my play list. I was glad that they recognize the theme of my play list. These songs are important to me because every time I listen to them, I feel comfortable and they seem to suit with my feelings. I usually listen to them via the Internet. My mix say about me that I am considerably affected love. My music choices reflect not so much my sense of self and the subculture I am belong to. That is, it goes well with my feelings at that time, but does not describe so much about my self. For example, I like to stay alone to think about my self. I like to solve problems by my self , but likely to receive help without asking other people. I relish sport. I think they would learn about me was that the gratitude of the love from parents. They should not learn about me that I am introvert, not expressing myself to surrounding people. My list indicate the love between people and people. They are people who can support and motivate others to action. I did not well interpreting my classmate's list of songs. I thought it was a male. Instead, it was a female. I guess that because the play list has a strong melody and is not beautifully handwritten.
Music Playlist ( part 1/2)
The soundtrack is described to belong to a woman. This is because a lot of songs talks about relationship and women think about that subject. Moreover, it is due to my handwriting. I am described as introvert because I want people to understand me , but I keep to myself. He(she) thought that I would mostly found studying, hanging with friends, and watching a chick flick. I wear jeans, printed T-shirt, and a zip hoodie over. I like to listen music, DDR, read books, and hang out with friends. I and he( she) both wish we were in a relationship right now.I was said to belong to bio club, book club, and volunteering.I am mentioned as a person to possess a small scruffy dog. Because most of songs pertain to love, I was depicted to want in a relationship. He( she ) considers being friends with me because I am a good person to talk about relationship problems
